Bond Houser III

Bond Houser III, 84, of Torrington, died Tuesday, March 5, 2013, of natural causes at Community Hospital.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at All Saints Episcopal Church in Torrington and cremation has taken place. Entombment will take place at a later date.
Mr. Houser was born July 31, 1931, in Troy, Ohio, to Bond and Kathryn (Dietrich) Houser Jr. He received his early education in Troy and later graduated high school in Lawrenceville, N. J.
He attended Princeton for three years before being drafted into the military for two years at the end of the Korean War. While stationed in Japan, he was captain of the Army Rifle Team. After his discharge, he returned to Troy where he married Mary Frisbie on Sept. 10, 1955.
He attended Mexico City College and studied foreign trade. He moved back to Troy and worked at his family’s furniture plant, the Troy Sunshade Co. After Hobart bought the company, he worked for them in foreign sales.
The family moved to Wyoming in 1974 and he owned and managed the Campbell County Agri Center in Gillette.
Mr. Houser was ordained and was the first perpetual deacon in the Wyoming Episcopal Diocese. In 1989, he attended a seminary in Canada for three years. He was ordained an Episcopal priest in 1992 and served in the Wyoming Diocese in Hanna, Saratoga and Encampment.
In 1996, he moved to Laramie where he did volunteer work and served as an interim priest. He served as a supply priest after his retirement in the Wyoming Diocese. They moved to Torrington in 2001 where he volunteered at All Saints. He was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church and Kiwanis, and was a life member of the NRA with a special interest in the Golden Eagle Program.
He is survived by his wife, Mary of Torrington; daughters, Mary Herbert of Conyers, Ga., and Betsy Schmick of Torrington; sons Bond Houser IV of Casper and Guy Menzie Houser of Bainbridge Island, Wash.; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
