CASPER, Wyo. — After almost 27 years of business, a sign on the door of the Poverty Resistance thrift store and food pantry reads "closed forever."
The Casper food bank distributed 44,700 pounds of food in January. But the store was cited for multiple fire code violations earlier this month, and the owner says she is ready to get out of the retail business.
According to the Casper Star Tribune (http://bit.ly/YzSg3e ), fire inspectors found blocked fire exits, electrical hazards and people sleeping in the store overnight, which is not allowed under the building's zoning code.
The owner pleaded not guilty to the violations Tuesday. A trial is scheduled for April 4.
