Posted 1/27/13

Lifelong Gillette resident Clifford Allen Bennor passed away Jan. 22, 2013, at the Close to Home Hospice following a lengthy illness.

He was preceded in death by his parents Ellis and Joy Bennor, and is survived by his sister Lucy Bush of Rapid City, S.D., and nephew Jason Bush of Gillette, as well as numerous cousins in Gillette, Washington, Oregon and Arizona.

Cliff grew up on the family ranch on Force Road and attended Fairview School, then graduated from Campbell County High School in 1968. Following high school, he spent a year or two in Brush, Colo., and a bit later in Kellogg, Idaho, but Gillette was always his home.

He became an accomplished water well driller, and was also respected for his skill as a mechanic. He restored a Crosley pickup which he showed off at the Black Hills Steam & Gas Threshing Bee (the ‘steam show’) near Sturgis, S.D.

His chief joy in later years when his health forced him to slow down was his collection of old movies and television shows.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, at the chapel at Mount Pisgah Memorial Cemetery with interment to follow.
