Egg hunt, church events celebrate Easter holiday

The Campbell County Recreation Center’s annual community Easter egg hunt has been moved and rescheduled.
The event, open to children ages 9 and younger, will start at 12:30 p.m. Sunday inside the Rec Center and Field House in anticipation of bad weather.
The children can hunt for plastic Easter eggs filled with candy. They will be divided into four different age groups, including 2 and younger, and ages 3-4, 5-6 and 7-9.
The Easter bunny also will make a special appearance to highlight the free event.

In other Easter week activities:
- Holy Trinity Episcopal Lutheran Church will host its traditional Palm Sunday procession at 9:45 a.m. Sunday at Lasting Legacy Park. The event, aimed at kids and families, will re-enact the entrance of Jesus into Jerusalem on Passover. Parishioners will wave palm branches and sing in celebration in the event. That procession will be among a variety of religious services offered in Gillette this week leading up to Easter on March 31.
- First United Methodist Church, 2000 W. Lakeway Road, also will have a palm Sunday celebration at 9:15 a.m. Sunday, as will First Presbyterian Church, 511 Carey Ave., at 9:30 a.m.
- St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, 900 Butler Spaeth Road, will offer a penance service at 7 p.m. Monday.
- New Life Wesleyan, 1000 Commanche Ave., also will present an Easter drama, “The Bridge,” at 7 p.m. Wednesday. It’ll also present the drama, a story of redemption, at 7 p.m. March 30 and 10:45 a.m. March 31.
