BILLINGS, Mont. — A former Billings police officer on probation for forging prescriptions for narcotics was arrested over the weekend and charged with felony drug possession.
The Billings Gazette reports 43-year-old Edwin Les Young appeared in Yellowstone County Justice Court Monday by video from the county jail. Bail was set at $7,500 in addition to the $15,000 bail set on a probation hold.
Prosecutors say Young was arrested Saturday after an off-duty officer found him trying to break into West High School. Police say he had three oxycodone tablets in his pocket.
In October, Young was given a three-year deferred sentence for forging prescriptions to obtain oxycodone. In court records, he was described as suffering from mental or emotional distress caused by physical pain and post-traumatic stress disorder resulting from his military and law enforcement work.
