From the Jan. 9, 1947 News Record:
At their Wednesday noonday luncheon this year, the local Lions club passed a resolution favoring a law to legalize the white cane and the seeing-eye dog. Such a law is being proposed at this session of the state Legislature, which will give the blind a right of way over all other moving objects. Up to this time, no such law has existed in Wyoming while in many other states it has.

From the Jan. 17, 1957 News Record:
A jury panel was called yesterday at Sheridan to being hearing a $25,000 suit in the district court concerning the deaths of five young people on a railroad crossing here in December 1955. Scheduled for trial with District Judge G.A. Layman presiding is the $25,811.61 damages suit of Dorothy Iona Ruff, Gillette, as administratrix of the estate of Dale Saylor, against John F. Raper, Sheridan, as administrator of the estate of Robert Seifert. Dale, 16, and Robert, 18, were among five young people killed in a grade crossing accident the night of Dec. 17, 1955, at Gillette. Seifert’s address was listed as Scottsbluff, Neb. The others killed were Gary Tate Saylor, 14, brother of Dale; Donald Vern Johnson, 16; and Glenna Phillips, 14, all of Gillette. The petition sets out that Dale was a guest in a pickup truck driven by Seifert, who is charged with carelessly and negligently driving the vehicle on the crossing in front of Burlington Passenger train No. 42 eastbound from Sheridan.

From the Jan. 2, 1969 News Record:
More than 100 stitches were taken in leg and face cuts on Dick Mader, local rancher and auctioneer, following an accident while loading a bull in his truck Dec. 23 at the Gillette Livestock exchange. Mader spent the night in the hospital and was released the following day. He said he had just put the animal in his truck, when it turned around and came charging back out. The bull hit a gate and it swing and hitting Mader in the face. The bull also caught Mader in the leg with his horn as it went on out of the truck.
