A Kaycee man was near death from multiple injuries and exposure and two others were also hospitalized following a one-car accident early Monday morning about 11⁄2 miles west of the Sheridan-Campbell County boundary on Highway 14-16 according to Val Edmondson, highway patrolman. Rudolph C. Watson, an oil crew worker of Kaycee, was knocked unconscious and was believed to be dead before he was taken to the Campbell County Memorial Hospital. Watson was reported in a state of shock most of Monday and was transferred to Casper on Tuesday morning suffering from a reported broken back and neck. He was paralyzed below the chest. Mrs. Watson sustained facial lacerations and possible head injuries. The driver was Robert Perkins of Upton, an oil worker who was going to Upton to see his family. He suffered a broken lower jaw and broken knee cap. The accident was believed to have occurred between midnight and 2 a. m., and the victims were not found and reported until about 4:45 a.m. Patrolman Edmondson said that there were no brake marks by the tires. It was believed that the driver may have gone to sleep momentarily.

The Gillette volunteer fire department made a flying sprint, but the cookies were burned! Fire Chief Charley Tyrrell reported that a trailer house full of smoke produced only an oven full of cookies that had caught fire Tuesday at about 1:40 p.m.
