Memorial services for Mary Elaine Ellis, 84, of Gillette will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Blanche Beck Memorial Chapel in the Pioneer Manor nursing home with Sue and Bill Todd and Martha and Carl Reimer as celebrants.
Burial will be at a later date in Mount Pisgah Cemetery.
She died Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, at Pioneer Manor of natural causes.
Mrs. Ellis was born Nov. 7, 1928, in Upton to Charles and Alfreda (Phoenix) Harney. She was raised and educated in the Newcastle area, graduating from Newcastle High School.
She married William Ellis in December 1946. Together they raised their five children: Billy, Donald, Larry, Joan and Wanda. She worked at Jack and Jill, Montgomery Ward and co-owned with, her husband, Ellis Tire Store.
Mrs. Ellis enjoyed horseback riding, growing flowers in her garden, canning, making jelly and baking. Her most precious hobby was taking care of her family and friends. She also loved spending time at the Manor with her special friend, Charlotte. She was the secretary of resident council at Pioneer Manor.
She is survived by her sons, Donald Ellis of Gillette and Larry Ellis of Upton; daughters, Joan Mcoy of Gillette and Wanda Butcher of Gillette; sister, Dora Jean Billings of Gillette; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parent; son, Billy Ellis; brothers, Delbert and Raymond Harney.
