Mom stabbed in schoolwork fight

SOUTH SALT LAKE — South Salt Lake police say a mother was undergoing surgery after a fight over her teenage daughter’s schoolwork ended in a stabbing.
Police detective Gary Keller says authorities responded to a home a little before 3 p.m. Tuesday, after the 16-year-old girl apparently stabbed her mother three times in the chest and stomach with a kitchen knife.
Keller says the 40-year-old woman was conscious when emergency responders arrived, and was taken to the hospital with injuries that aren’t considered life-threatening.
