Planners OK Walgreens for Jackson’s main street

Posted 11/26/12

JACKSON — A proposal to build a Walgreens on Jackson’s main street is creating some controversy in town.

The Jackson Planning Commission unanimously approved the plan on Wednesday but it still must win town council approval.

The Jackson Design Review board said the building’s look doesn’t fit the character of town.Other opponents wrote letters criticizing the intrusion of “the bland and corporate” into the town.

Developers want to build a 13,000-square-foot, one-story Walgreens store building on West Broadway and a separate, three-unit employee housing building.
