LARAMIE — A pair of Wyoming players earned Mountain West Conference honors this week.
Sophomore quarterback Brett Smith won his third Mountain West offensive player of the week award this season and junior cornerback Marqueston Huff was named the conference co-defensive player of the week for the first time in his career.
Both earned the honor for their performances in Wyoming’s 28-23 road win at UNLV last Saturday.
Smith threw for a career high 412 yards and recorded three touchdown passes to lead Wyoming to its third consecutive win of the season.
Huff had seven tackles and one forced fumble against UNLV. He forced the fumble during a fake field goal attempt by the Rebels in the third quarter. The play resulted in a Cowboys touchback.
